Ramat Gan Safari: animals, opening hours and ticket prices

A long practical guide to Safari Ramat Gan: what animals you can see, opening hours, ticket prices and why the site is one of Israel’s best-known zoological attractions.
Why the Safari matters
Safari Ramat Gan is one of the most famous animal attractions in Israel and one of the largest zoological collections in the Middle East. Its appeal comes from the combination of a drive-through safari area and a zoo section, allowing visitors to see large African-style herds as well as more traditional exhibits. The official site describes the park as a 100-hectare landscape in the middle of metropolitan Israel and notes a collection of about 1,600 animals, including 68 mammal species, 130 bird species and 25 reptile species.
What animals visitors can expect
Families usually come hoping to see the best-known large mammals, and the Safari does not disappoint. The official overview highlights African and Asian elephants, giraffes, orangutans, Sumatran tigers and gorillas. Visitors can also encounter zebras, rhinoceroses, lions, flamingos and many other species. For children, the attraction is not only the species list but the sense of movement: herds grazing, birds along the water and the impression of a mini-journey through different habitats.
Opening hours and prices
According to the official multilingual site, regular opening hours are usually Sunday to Thursday from 09:00 to 17:00 with ticket sales ending at 15:00; on Fridays and holiday eves the site is generally open from 09:00 to 16:00 with ticket sales ending at 14:00; and on Saturdays and holidays from 08:30 to 17:00 with ticket sales ending at 15:00. The lion area has separate hours. Current ticket information lists free entry for children under two, an online advance-ticket price of 119 NIS, a regular daily price of 129 NIS and a discounted rate of 92 NIS for certain groups such as local residents, students, seniors and eligible certificate holders.
Planning a good visit
Because opening times, weather and animal routines affect visibility, it is wise to check the official website on the day of the visit. Morning visits are often more comfortable in hot months. The Safari works best when it is treated as a half-day family outing rather than a quick stop: take time for the drive-through area, the zoo paths, the ponds and the larger habitats. For visitors staying in Tel Aviv or Ramat Gan, it is one of the easiest urban nature excursions available.
